At God’s Table Needs a Referral

So, as you know, one of the things At God’s Table does is make sure no one falls through the cracks if we can help it.  We have a single parent family that needs a place to live.  And we have a few other people who need community and a place to live.  So, we negotiated for a house for these people.  And we got it.  But, wouldn’t you know it, there are problems.  Now in order to meet requirements for the house, we need a plumber (and maybe an electrician).  We went to the commercial market and got some bids.  And we were SHOCKED!  All we need to do replace some pipes so that they are up to code and fit a few electrical things.  But the estimate!!  WOW!!  Way over the top (as we have discovered with just about everything that involves a non-profit).  So I am making an appeal.

NOT FOR MONEY!

I just need one of you out there to direct me to a plumber in the Orlando area who will help us.  Someone who understands what we are trying to do and won’t try to take us for everything we have. And we can help, but we can’t do that last bit that the plumber has to do.

If you know someone, PLEASE give us a name and a number.

There’s an 8 year old little boy who needs a place to live.

Thanks,

Skip

Skip – I know it’s not an appeal for money, but if we wanted to donate to this cause, how would we do that? I am sorry I can’t offer any help for a plumber or electrician in the Orlando area, but I have a friend who lives there. I will ask her.

Hi Skip,

Steve Lyons at Orlando Winnelson (407) 453-8389 would be a good resource. I’ve worked with him in the past and trust his judgement.

Is the 8 year old boy part of one of the families who will be living in this house, or is he in need of a family to take him in?

Tonya

OK, thanks. Glad you were able to get the house! (I assume it is the purchase you were working on at the time of the MO conference.)

High time we learn to get our hands real dirty! So, sitting behind a desk at work just wouldn’t do, but hands-on at home learning to fix some things at least, certainly will.. Reasons why we are exploited by dishonest quick-profit-making trades men. The work done these days are WAY below the normal standard of former days as well.
These are the problems surfacing when society is geared towards white-collar jobs. Consequences of a mindset.
Adam and Chawah surely have no necessity of plumbing, but they would need to dig holes for hygiene/toiletry purposes, though what they consumed would be totally organic and makes good compost! :- )

A recent TV program aired how elderly folks are charged exorbitant fees for just clearing their drainage. It is a maddening world!
Stay sane, shalom!
