Something Special from Malta

Malta is the island where Paul was shipwrecked.  It claims the longest Christian history of any nation bordering the Mediterranean.  Rosanne and I had an opportunity to visit two quite amazing locations in Valetta, the capital.

The first was a private tour of the Presidential Palace, once the home of the Grand Masters, and ultimately the base of the Knights of St. John who were involved in the Crusades nearly 1000 years ago.

While tourist can purchase tickets to see some of this palace, we were allowed access to many special room under the guidance of a women who worked directly for the President.

Here are three photos.  The red room, a hall in the upper floor and a room of amazing tapestries.  There is more, of course, but here a some things you might never see, even if you went to Malta.

Then we went to the Church of St. Paul’s Shipwreck.  A lot of the ceiling is under reconstruction, but several paintings are visible.  We were given permission to take a photo of this very famous rendition of the storm that brought Paul to Malta.  Enjoy it.

Thank you for the word tour along with the photos, it makes looking at the photo more interesting, learning something along with the visual gives dimension that pictures alone do not always convey, so much for a picture is worth a thousand words.
