The Mother Bird Law

If you happen to come upon a bird’s nest along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young; you shall certainly let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself, in order that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days.” Deuteronomy 22:6-7 NASB

If you happen – You are in for a treat. On my last trip to Israel, I was able to arrange a session with Rabbi David Fohrman. His discussion of the mother bird law is amazing. So here it is for you to enjoy. It will take some time. It’s one hour and twenty minutes of wonderful insight.

I really enjoyed this teaching on Aleph Beta! The lessons are so rich and deep. I don’t mind the animation because Rabbi Fohrman’s voice is so rich and easy on the ears! Such great content! Thanks Skip!!!

I listened this morning and enjoyed it as well. Thanks for sharing with us.

Amazing things are learned when we ask the right questions! I wondered if there was also a connection between the mother bird law and when Jacob took Laban’s daughters even though Laban was the father and not the mother.

Laura

Thanks. It seems like there is always something to be learned of we are open.

THANKS for sharing with all of us…it was fun to hear RDF delightfully unscripted! and loved hearing his explanation of how he gets his insight (and what brought him to that hunger for Torah)

I think we can learn even if we ask the wrong questions. As the teacher says, “There’s no such thing as a dumb question.” No offense meant, but I think most people need a safe environment to learn in and to be able to ask questions without intimidation or worrying if they are asking the “wrong” question or if they sound dumb. ? Just my two cents worth.

I loved the free info.

Thanks

I always find it amazing, how God gets around cultural barriers. What struck me most about this was the story he shared concerning his journey and the difficulties presented inside the religious community he is connected too. What amazes me is that a man so diverse from myself (culturally speaking) can find the same methods of study and enlightenment as I find myself stumbling (?) on, as I’m sure that many of you can identify with as well. It reminds me of the story of Elijah who seemed to think he was alone in his endeavors. Gods answer was that He had reserved 7 thousand that had not bowed the knee to baal. It’s good to know you’re not alone. What a manifestation of His Sovereignty!

Thank you for sharing part of your Israel experience, especially the one with Rabbi Fohrman. I am also a fan. I enjoyed this so very much. Emett in teshuva, during this preparation, time of deep introspection examining relationships. in an non relating world, I have found my attempts at asking hard questions and restoring attempts with those that are not able to examine and get past the withholding hearts hate . communication is may be, I guess attempts for me are best left with Torah , prayer , book authors become pretend friends to read about how to, journals to express your hurt and dry tears for the unsaid dialog ,or paid analysis with doctors , whom may, really listen or at least stay present for an hour . . Non relational world that thinks they communicate. Pray for the work to begin , open my heart to see my eyes my mouth to begin give me courage to admit apologize, restore, look at myself, and conflicts , hate , anger not defensive insecurities of being right or superior. Adonai be my safe place.
