Filled

“I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to make artistic designs for work” Exodus 31:3-4

Filled – You have to spill a little over the top!  “Filled” is the Hebrew word male.  In one context, it means to put into a vessel so much that there is no more room left for anything else.  When God fills you, He puts so much in that there’s no room for anything else.

Look carefully at this verse.  God’s tells Moses that He has filled Bazaleel with many important things – wisdom, understanding, knowledge and craftsmanship.  But there is a purpose behind this entire filling.  God fills him up so that he can complete God’s work.   Bazaleel is instructed to take all of these things that God has filled him with and use them to do the work God wants done.  They are not to be hoarded or deposited or safeguarded.  They are to be given out.

Here is an Old Testament example of Jesus’ parable of the resources entrusted to the servants.  Use them or lose them.  God fills for the purpose of emptying.  Collecting and keeping is the opposite of God’s method.  We were designed to give it away.

Most of my life was spent gathering things to myself.  In the end, I had everything expect purpose.  God had to take away all of those things in order to give me purpose.  When He did, I discovered that not having anything made me free to give away all that I had.  God will fill me up when He knows that I am ready to let it all go away.  He comes to me with a simple request – let it be as I wish.  Then He immediately begins to fill in order that I can become another channel of emptying.

Take an inventory of your life at this moment.  Are you collecting or emptying?  If you find that you place more emphasis on the asset side of the equation than the liabilities, maybe you need to look at the way God does business.  Backwards is heaven’s mode of operation.
