The World According to?

Double-minded – Spiritually schizophrenic.  The Greek is dipsuchos (from dia meaning two, and psyche meaning mind or soul).  Are you a split personality Christian?  Sometimes we aren’t even aware that we are living two lives.  It’s not always the obvious sins.  We can avoid lying, adultery, murder, coveting, dishonoring and blasphemy and still be completely schizophrenic.

Where do you stand on these?

1. Do you live in complete trust that God controls the circumstances of your life, or are you anxious and worried about the risks of this world?
2. Are you motivated by what you are afraid of?
3. Do you recognize that what you have in God’s gift, not your earned reward?  Do you apply this thinking to your current job?  Do you let it affect your idea of career advancement?
4. Do you deliberately move in the direction of dependence on God or are you trying your best to achieve a life of independence through self-sufficiency?  How does this make a difference in how you handle money?
5. Are you trying your best to control the outcomes of your life, or are you seeking to exercise only the authority God ahs given you and leave the consequences to Him?
6. Are you motivated to accumulate here and now?  Are you collecting status, knowledge, power, wealth, strength, reputation, image or any of the other values held high by this world?  Or are you moving toward giving away what God puts under your authority?  Are you seeking to distribute what has been entrusted to you?
7. Do you think that knowledge is a source of power accumulated through information or do you understand that obedience is the single requirement of godly wisdom and without it everything is foolishness?
8. Do you think in terms of relationship investment or return?  Does wasted time affect your choices?  Have you let your language incorporate the reduction of all values to the world’s commodities?  Or do you think in terms of eternal values not reducible to commodity language?

Double-minded means incapable of consecration and unstable in everything God desires.  Have you really moved house?
