Crisis in Honduras

As you know, Bessy has been faithfully translating Today’s Word into Spanish for many years now.  I heard from her two days ago.  There is the possibility of a civil coup in Honduras.  There is a lot of political tension and some heavy influence from Hugo Chavez.  Things are very scary.  Bessy’s children are in the USA but she is not.  Please pray for her safety and the safety of her mother and father and the rest of the family.

Precious Father, Giver of Life and Sole Creator of all Things,
We lift up our sister to you now. You are well aware of her, this climate of human uncertainty and we are assured of your Soverignty. May Bessy and all of your people, near and dear to your heart , remain in the shadow of your wings. Do good to those who do good. Cover them Lord. Cover them Master. Cover them Almighty God. Rule the hearts of even the evil-doers according to your perfect will.

Lord, may your mighty hand be against any who intend to inflict harm on our sister and family members. May You be shown as the God of Her family and reveal your compassion and mercy upon those who may attempt to oppress. May it please You Lord to bless your servant and to send Your angels before her into the areas Your Name will reach.

Jesus, our Savior, You rule and reign from the right hand of the Father. You are absolutely in control of all things. I bow to You, our Holy God, and ask for Your tender mercy concerning this nation and Your servant, Bessy. I plead the blood of Jesus at this hour and believe that You are mightly at work. May the name of Jesus be exalted above all. Be glorified and be magnified. We worship You. We praise You. In Jesus Name, I pray. AMEN.

Dear friends,

Thank you so much for your prayers. My country is going through terrible times, uncertain times. But all in all, the general population – myself included – is very pleased with the removal of Zelaya as President. He was taking our beautiful country in a direction the mayority did not approve. There has been no violence yet, but there are threats from Venezuela and Nicaragua to overthrow our government. Help us pray that it all continues without bloodshed. I was very proud to see all members of Congress holding hands and bowing in prayer. Communications are intermittent, and news are scarce, so I apologize if I don´t appear here to often.

Keep us in your prayers, please pray that the Lord grants the world the ability to see the truth, that all evil is exposed and we all remain in peace.

Shalom,

Bessy

Here are some ongoing updates and reports from a mission in Honduras. http://missionlazarus.tumblr.com/

A local church here in Houston (Conroe) sent a group to help just before the crisis and was picked up by the local news. http://www.hcnonline.com/articles/2009/06/30/conroe_courier/news/youth0630.txt
