Comment Conference
WOW! There are so many great comments on the blog in the last few days. If you haven’t been following the comments on Christ and culture (The Chameleon Christ) or the discussion of Acts 15 (Bob Gorelik comments and A Case of Mistaken Identity), then you are really missing out. In fact, the material is so good that I think
WE SHOULD HAVE A CONFERENCE!
Wouldn’t that be fun? If you think you’d like to do something like that, then let me know. Maybe it’s only an audio-telephone conference, maybe it’s face-to-face, but I think there are a lot of people who would benefit. So, let me know.
You can just add a comment right here.

Skip … the idea of conferencing …. is really cool. I am not sure if you have “live meeting” in mind to promote interactive teaching and study or what! It sounds like you are open to suggestions anyhow!
For many of us that utilize technology to conduct business meetings we know that it is a great way to communicate and transfer ideas … while keeping travel and logistical costs to a minimum.
I might even have to get my computer video camera fixed if we do soemthing like this? LOL
The pleasure would be overwelming.
That would be great!
Skip, this is a great Idea, let me know if I can help we can use dimdim (www.dimdim.org) I have a meeting server that my office is hosting and I can send you the URL.
Skip, Russell and I are hosting Sukkot in Texas this year from Oct. 4-12. We would love to speak to you about an inclusive conference. We have been praying about speakers for this event, and topics. This just seems to fit. Please get back to me by email, we are currently out of the country. I forwarded the articles to several Christian friends who I think will become Today’s Word subcribers now. Your work is greatly appreciated!
For Such a Time As This
Renee
That would be awesome. There is a software called GoToMeeting.com that allows audio and video. The host can show, for example, a powerpoint presentation from his computer to the attendees. Food for thought.
Yes, yes, let’s have an audio-telephone conference!
There is also another piece of magical software that is less expensive (i.e. Free) that allows the same functionality as gotomeeting. http://www.dimdim.com/ is free for up to 20 people. Skip if you need more than 20 let me know and you can use the server I am hosting in the office.
Manny
I would like this. I would suggest a telephone conference to begin with and if more are interested go for a regional gathering or break it up into cities. Just a thought.
Cheers Always,
Sam
Wonderful! It will be inspiring to “hear” the voices, souls and spirits of those who regularly contribute.
Skip, As Renee, I would like to see you appear somewhere locally (north or central Texas) for a seminar or teaching/discussion. I encourage face-to-face meetings such as this. Your popularity here is on the rise. I and most others of our local group are fairly firmly committed to a Sukkot gathering out of state but any other date would work nicely. Holler when the responses are in, please.
Skip, count me in. I would love to discuss this more via web or i would prefer face-to-face.
Matt
A video conference would work, though face to face is even more exciting for me. Keep us posted.
Skip,
One of the events I miss from being in a denomination was the summer camp meetings and conferences. It was a time of renewal of friendships and the making of new ones. I would welcome a “traditional” conference where we gather for a few days of instruction and fellowship.

I will be watching for upcoming news regarding the possibility of a conference of any kind. Sounds good in any format!
Skip, I’m in with the group that would like a phone/computer conference (webinar). Some allow you to have participants actually speak, others allow them to type in comments to the moderator (you) or both you and the group.
Depending on the location, I might be able to attend something in person.
Skip, the meeting idea sounds good. Those of us who have a young family may have trouble getting to remote locations, even in the same state (i.e. Houstonian). Whatever is done, if an in person appearance, please try to incorporate a video recording of the event. I do have some options to mention in regard to live chat or conference. http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php (voice only) and http://www.skype.com (text conference only)
Skip, this is a great idea! Keep us posted. I love the idea of a face to face. Perhaps in the fall. Whatever is decided will be amazing, however!
Conference call sounds great! I’m in a skype conference with people from, Israel, Romania, Holland, and Britain every saturday to participate in a midrash on the weekly parshah reading.
Skype is only good for smaller groups (10-15) and sometimes the connection is lost. We have been looking for a more reliable FREE system, so I’m excited to see what our group comes up with.
Skip…I’m in….can’t wait!
Absolutely!!!! This would be an answer to prayer!
Pam, did you notice that these ideas for a conference are from July 2009? Ha! Something strange is going on here.
Fantastic! I am excited to see where this leads.
How did this Today’s Word post (from 2009) end up in your mailbox, or did you just open it on the web? I have no idea how this happened. I didn’t get it and it is not posted for today, December 27, 2014.
What’s going on here? This post was from July 2009?! Did I miss the conference? Sigh! Maybe it’s time to consider doing it again.
This 2009 post appeared when I clicked “Comment” on the email version of today’s post, Whom Do You Praise? It’s obviously a glitch, but I enjoyed the “rabbit trail”.
I arrived at the 2009 post the same way Linda Smith described. Interesting glitch.
🙁 SO, maybe Abba is bringing it back around cause we need to do it! 😉
That was what I thought when I opened it. 😀
I just seen this a little bit ago so, I wasn’t even aware that people were making the comments that you all were on this issue.
My guess, is that it was just one of those odd “things” that happen with the internet, software and websites. I doubt very seriously it has any real implications or meaningful purpose behind it.
I don’t normally go to sleep till after 1am PST. So, I’ll check tonight and see of it happens again. If it does then I’ll investigate it.
Shalom
I think His hope was to be called Dad and that would mean more then me getting the rest said exactly right.
