GONE TO ISRAEL

On Wednesday, October 14, I am going to Israel with a group of Today’s Word readers.  While I am in Israel, I do not expect to be able to access the internet, nor will I be able to answer questions or fix problems.  Patrick is going with me, so he will be in the same condition.  I am praying that there are no major issues during this time.  I will be back on October 25.

Today’s Word will NOT be interrupted during this period unless we have server problems.  So, you can expect to get an email every day as usual.  If something happens and you don’t get it, you’ll have to wait until I return.

Please pray for all of us traveling.

Our Bible states, “who can stand before envy?” (lol!!). I will be praying for you my dear brother and teacher and as it has been said multiple times,”come to Israel, -you will never be the same”. I’m asking G-d to prepare you hearts to receive a blessing there will not be room enough to receive, as we the readers of TW will be the beneficiaries from the overflow and maybe catch a few crumbs that fall from the Master’s table. In Christ, carl.

Gayle

Amen to that, Carl!

Have a great trip! May He be with you during your travels.

Lord bless you all as you seek Him. Be blessed with enjoyment through the Holy Spirit.

May God bless your trip. I will be away Oct 23-28 at KWVA Annual Conference in Dallas, TX for a book signing. Here is a poem I wrote about the book:

‘FORGOTTEN’ NO MORE
By William A. Cummins
Author of “THE FORGOTTEN”

My daddy is a veteran,
who served his country well.
He will not be forgotten,
and here’s how I can tell.

I touched his cheek so softly,
he looked so calm and still.
I felt his touch upon my hand,
and shuddered with the thrill.

Memories came flooding back,
like shadows on my hand.
As slowly I remembered,
this brave and handsome man.

I was afraid I’d lost him,
but time can be brought low.
It’s all in how you catch it,
and bring it under tow.

In my hand is ‘The Forgotten’
with my daddy’s name inside.
His story I can not forget,
he put it there with pride.

His service to our country,
was posted there with care.
So he would be remembered,
by all who met him there.

William A. Cummins,
Sir: I was joyous to read your poem, and see the love of a son for a wonderful military man. One of the ministries the Lord has given my husband and me, here in Central Tx, is to work with the individual families the Lord gives us from Ft Hood, the largest Military base in the World. We have been here 9 years, and have had three families. One family at a time, is all you can help!
The first two were single women with children. I met them working in our yard. They came to our small town, trying somehow to have a “normal life” away from the base housing, and Killeen the town built next to it. But anything that I would call normal with all the moves, and constant turmoil of the military life is near impossible. — Without direction, and knowledge from our Lord and Savior, how do people manage?
That is part of our focus in ministering to them, to get them into a church that will give them along with our personal teaching and daily help as needed, a love for the Lord Jesus. This family as the other two were truly seeking for that kind of help. Yes, God Himself put us with them.
We are currently with our third family, that we call our “foster family”. they live a block away, with three little girls. The father has been in Iraq four times. and is currently awaiting knee surgery. The oldest girl, just seven years old is severely asthmatic, and was in the ER and put in the hospital on Thurs. released Fri, and then right back to the hospital in a few hours. Ed and I spent the day with her in the hospital Sat.
Her maternal grandmother is full blooded Korean, and her own father is Spanish, she and both her sisters are beautiful children, and all three are very smart. We have been their mentors for four years now. ( they moved last year to AZ, for six months for some retraining for the father- but was sent back to Ft. Hood.-) In my opinion, the military is one of the most neglected groups as far as pay, and praise and all Americans being thankful for, that I know about.

Thank you for writing your book, and being a valuable part of the Nation’s history. God has been so good to our Country. Do you have the book on a web site, or whatever? LaVaye Billings

I know you will all be blessed by this wonderful opportunity, but, the people o Israel (the ones who are fortunate enough to meet you) are in for some blessings as well. I believe God will be overseeing your trip very closely…with big plans in mind.

God Bless you and the group. Wish we could be there.

Skip and Others who will read this comment, So many blessings written above, that I will not add more, but I wish we could see a list of those going with you, within those of us not going, that would be a help for us to know who is there, how to pray as the Lord leads us, for each of you.
FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED EITHER WAY, “GOING” OR NOT GOING”, IT COULD BE A GREAT BENEFIT. THANKS TO SOMEONE GOING FOR GETTING A LIST FOR ALL OF US TO KNOW.

p.S. WE HAVE ONLY BEEN TO ISRAEL ONCE, in 1963, ON OUR RETURN TRIP FROM LIVING IN AN ISALAMIC COUNTRY FOR A YEAR. WE HAD PROBLEMS ON GETTING INTO THE COUNTRY. BECAUSE OF OUR PASSPORTS BEING STAMPED WITH COMING FROM PAKISTAN WHERE WE LIVED, AND THEN VISITING IN TEHRAN AFTER LEAVING pAKISTAN.
WHEN WE ARRIVED WE CAME THROUGH THE ENTRY OF TEL-AVIV-jAFFA. I arrived very ill, and the hotel had a Dr. come to our room. He was a former Medical Dr. in Germany before WW11, and never have I experienced such TLC from a Dr. Later, I was able to go to his office, and covering one large wall was a painting done of their farm and home in Germany. He was just thankful to have gotten out alive with some possessions–the painting was one. His medical advice was right on target, and his personal advise was too.

Part 2, L.B. ( the above one got sent before I intended for it to go.)
But in general the Israeli people we met, were arrogant, haughty, and not friendly to us in 1963. Of course, we must remember they had just become a nation again, in 1948 ( -Pakistan became a nation out of India in 1947) — However; After WW 11 ended, The U.N. voted to end British control of Palestine and divide the country into a Jewish sate and an Arab Country. The day the British mandate ended, May 14, 1948, the nation of Israel came into existence. ——- Then more wars for them to fight, some gains and some loss of territory, and the Battle goes on today. With the current U.S. political powers that are in control that are really against Israel, and more for Islam, only the God, the Creator of the Universe, knows what will happen to U.S. and really the world! Unspeakable things are at stake! L.B.

I still want to write more: SO PLEASE SOMEONE LET US HAVE A LIST OF THOSE GOING WITH THIS GROUP TO ISRAEL. FOR THE REASONS GO BACK TO MY FIRST COMMENT.

ALSO, I WOULD LIKE TO say the good German Dr. out from Germany and the Holocaust, helped heal me so that Ed and I could divide the children and take turns doing the tourist things. One day he would take one of the older children and go, and I would stay with the other one and the baby. Then we would reverse it the next day.
I still have on our BR wall, the little reminders we bought from Israel: two wooden Keys to the cities of Jersualem, Tel Aviv, that have been used for keys to our different homes since then. a mezuzah– a small metal case attached to the doorpost of the houses of devout Jews. It contain a parchment inscribed on one side with Deut.6: 4-9 and 11: 13-21, and on the other “Shaddai”. Its purpose was to stimulate piety. and a menorah, let you looks up the meaning of it, and several metal pictures showing Jewish daily life through the years. I will not try to write of the places we visited now. L.B.
