RE: בני b’nai as “children” or “sons” “my son” (term of endearment)
in Hebrew grammar, the masculine plural form CAN be gender inclusive when it refers to a group of individuals. It might be just males, or it can include BOTH males and females. When there is only one male in the group, it would still be a masculine plural usage. When there is only one male and one female in the group, it would be a masculine plural. But when translated into English, we can only tell by context whether it’s all males, or being gender inclusive.
… בני ben-i the literal translation is “son of mine” or in English “my son”.
so all the applications are correct, children, sons, my son
just in case you had not caught it yet – 6 and 7 are in reverse order – 7 covers Ch 2 v. 11 to 18 and 6 cover Ch 2 18 to end
Thanks. I will fix this ASAP
I am not sure this was ever fixed. It appears they are still reversed. 🙂
I will look into this when I get home tomorrow
