Prayer Request for Africa Medical Trip
HI all,
Jon Thurman, one of our faithful community, has asked fro prayer for his upcoming trip. Here are the details:
Dear Today’s Word Friends,
This coming Thursday, November 3rd my 22-year old daughter (Carly) and I will be leaving for Africa to join a medical effort aimed at bringing restoration to people that have experienced serious burns or genetic deformity. My brother will be amongst the team of surgeons leading the effort. In case you’re wondering what Carly and I will be doing as part of our time there, well I can sum it up in a word…serving. It may take the shape of a simple hug or carrying a child to the operating room. So with that bit of backdrop, I am writing you today to put before you a number of specific requests that I would humbly ask you to be fervently praying for on our behalf.
Here’s some specifics:
1) The date of our travel is November 3rd thru the 12th.
2) Pray for both Carly and me as we finalize the details of our preparations.
3) Pray for safe travel and good health all along the path.
4) Pray that the Holy Spirit would bind up anything that might impede our ability to be fully present and fully engaged at every point along the trip.
5) Pray that our efforts during the trip would be lived out through the lens of our heart and from our heart would spring forth a very real and alive compassion for others. (For those that know me I can tend to “over think” things and am prone at times to miss out on the invitations of the heart. J)
6) Pray that we would keenly recognize those unique invitations that the Lord provides us to speak a word of encouragement, affirmation or Good News to those in our midst including the team.
7) Pray for the team of doctors that will be working 14+ hour days.
8) Pray that the Lord would continue his work of healing and transformation in my heart and mind as I step towards some of my lingering fears and emotional woundedness from my own childhood surgeries.
9) And finally, pray that the Holy Spirit would keep us attentive and ever vigilante to the transformative change that is occurring in our own lives as we receive the “hugs of Christ” through the people of Africa.
The Lord promises us is his word that, “He will never leave us or forsake us.” One of the most tangible expressions of that truth is when he invites his people to be that very truth in the lives of others. Know that we are so grateful for your willingness to intercede before the Lord on our behalf. This gives us great assurance and hope. It strengthens our faith and fills us with joy. Thank you for remembering to pray.

Dear Joh and Carly. I am standing with you in prayer per your request. Abba Father hears us even before we speak. You can trust that He has already heard your heart and this is within His perfect will so go in peace and let the miracles flow freely. Our beloved Y’shua is our King and Healer and never holds back but gives freely to the brocken hearted and sick. He is in you and with you both. We bless His wonderful and mighty Name. Let Him be loved by this service from the heart. Amen and Amen.

Hear us as we lift up Jon and Carly before your Throne of Grace and Mercy. You are kind and compassionate towards them and know the thoughts and intentions of each one of us. May this act of love on their part reflect the love you have for your created ones. You know the concerns they have and you have promised to meet each and every need of your beloved children. Watch over them with the care of a loving Father and may your Spirit rest upon them and the others with this team of lovingkindness.

Be strong and courageous, Do Not be Afraid, for the Lord, your Y’shua, is with you wherever you go. I come into agreement with your requests and the prayers of Christina and Mary above. As one, we click shields of faith as warriors around you that His presence and power will invade the darkness and you will go in confidence knowing Abba Father is there to do His bidding. Go in peace, faith and love of Him you is sending you.
