The State of the Spirit

The image below is all that is left of a Catholic priory that once stood on this location in London.  For hundreds of years, this site was the location of men who served God as they knew Him.  Today it is a massive office complex.  The name of the street reflects its history – literally “Cross Street”.  But notice this:  Neither of the statues of these monks bear crosses.  Why?  Because it was considered politically insensitive to put crosses on these statues in an area on London that now has more mosques than churches.  What does that tell you about today’s culture?

it tells me i don’t like it – odd/funny the sign above the monk on the left “crutched friars.” jan
