THE TYGER (from Songs Of Experience) By William Blake
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare sieze the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art. Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? what dread grasp Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears, And watered heaven with their tears, Did he smile his work to see? Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Michael,
Thanks for the reminder of this beautiful song! How long ago did I hear/see that? What a perfect fit for this marvelous picture!
Skip,
You have a unique talent to convey images – whether by word or actual photo! Wonderful!
“Thanks for the reminder of this beautiful song! How long ago did I hear/see that?”
Hi Gayle,
I’m glad you liked that song, it is from the late 70’s as I recall
I think I fell in love with Linda R around the time she first sang “the first cut”
And around that same time I can remember reading THE TYGER for the “umpteenth” time
And asking myself “why do I keep coming back to this simple poem?”
And saying to myself “it must contain something that I need to know, but I don’t know what it is”
Thanks, Skip and Michael, I loved the poem reminder with this photo shot!
Great picture! Such detail! I almost lost my “dept of perception” and wanted to pet his back. What camera and settings did you use?
Nikon D300 ISO 400 f9 1/80 sec 120mm
Thanks! Wow, have you seen the new Nikon D4 Digital SLR? Imagine what you could do with that. I’ll be praying that opportunity comes your way. You have such a gift with the lens
Yes, but at $6000 it will have to wait a very long time.
That is beautiful!
