What Skip Does in the Meanwhile
Just back from El Salvador where I taught a two day seminar to many church leaders and spent valuable time with Jason Law of One Mission and Ronaldo Bueno of Enlace. We worked on community development projects in the poorest of communities. Jason’s non-profit will assist Ron with housing for these poor people.
Here are some pictures.
A shot of my desk – what it usually looks like as I write Today’s Word.
A picture of me teaching in El Salvador
Some photos of the community where Jason and Ron will put their efforts.
None of this gets done without support from you, and this time Keith Cooksey provided the means to make this happen (and he went with me). If you want to do something similar, let me know.

Greatly proud of you. You have obviously figured “it” out. There are several components in the walk of a Believer and your display of pictures show “it” well. Again I am proud of you and with you (and Him) in this walk… 100%.
GOOD MORNING SKIP, IS IT HARD TO RETURN TO THE LUXURIES WE ENJOY HERE IN THE WESTERN WORLD OF THE US AFTER SEEING & BEHOLDING THE DEGRADATION OF OTHER PEOPLES – I HAVE NEVER SEEN THESE THINGS IN PERSON OR EVEN THE DEGRADATION HERE IN THE US [WHICH THERE IS ALSO] – COMPARING YOUR NICE BUT CLUTTERED DESK WITH LEARNING TOOLS TO THAT OF A SMALL HUT PROBABLY WITH A DIRT FLOOR – I CAN IMAGINE ONE WOULD FEEL GOOD TO BE HOME BUT HOW DOES ONES HEART LEAVE THOSE PHOTOS BEHIND & FEEL GOOD??? jan
One of the MOST IMPORTANT compass adjustments for living is to spend some real time with those who are just surviving. I wish every person in the USA took such an opportunity. The complaints we hear daily of “not being fair” in this society are staggeringly myopic. Yes, dirt floors, no running water, no sewers, no electricity, no employment – and no government to artificially provide money when there is no work, no fall-back of any kind. That’s what MOST of the people of the world deal with every day. If you want to really understand compassion, if you want to FEEL what Yeshua felt, then you must go to these people. You are their only hope. When we refuse to open our eyes to this need, we insult the Savior who wept over us.
Thank you Skip for showing us these pictures. It’s alway very special to get a glimpse into some of the things you do when you’re not writing.
I’m sure your time in Honduras was not easy, but thanks for modeling what you teach…”Apart from Me, you can do nothing.” John 15:5
And as you said in Today’s Word, (July 20th) “In order to accomplish what He purposes, we MUST be connected to Him.”
It’s apparent that you are staying “connected” and in the process are touching many lives! Praise G-d!
P.S. I loved seeing those two Macs sitting on your desk! 🙂
Thank you for showing, and reminding us, in pictures, what realities we take for granted, or simply shut our ears and eyes to. ABBA’s mercies upon us.
Shalom, Skip.
Hi Skip,
I’d be happy and priviledged to help you out on a trip to El Salvador, Cuba, South America. I’ve done a couple of building projects with the extreme poor in Mexico several years back.
