WHAT SKIP HAS BEEN DOING
As long as we’re talking about the community and its impact, I thought you might like to know what I’ve been up to in the last few months. In addition to the classes I taught for Master’s,
1. I made two trips to South Africa this year, teaching more than 1000 people in 8 different cities. Such a hunger there for God’s word!
2. Rosanne and I went to Europe at the invitation of a good friend. We stayed in Florence and then went on the Celebrity cruise line where I lectured on Greek islands, Greek mythology and the influence of Semitic culture in the West. We used miles and points to cover almost all the expense. I had the largest crowds of people on the ship for the whole season (and they asked me to come back next year). It was wonderful to talk to people who were not part of any religious group and see their enthusiasm and interest in the things that shape our culture. And guess what? One couple on the ship were Today’s Word readers from Oregon. Small world!
3. I finished the study of Matthew (audio available) and did another Bible study in Winter Garden on Ruth (available as pod cast).
4. I started a regular teaching series (once a quarter) in Virginia Beach. I will be back in January to continue with a fine group of people. If you are in the area, please come.
5. I taught a seminar in El Salvador and made contact with a small rural church that is reaching into some notorious gangs. This will develop over time. I hope to have someone sponsor this effort in the future (Keith sponsored this trip).
6. Bob Gorelik and I took 30 people to Israel for 14 days. The teaching sessions were amazing and all the new material will soon be available on DVD. I am working on that now.
7. I will travel to India in a few weeks to meet with a group of Christian businessmen who want to understand more about biblical leadership in their companies.
8. And I wrote another 300 Today’s Word editions and lots of other stuff.
9. And now I am taking a week off to start the next book, a book which many have asked for as I travel and teach.

Thanks for sharing Skip. My wife and I really appreciate your ministry and have benefited from it greatly over this past year. Thank you for allowing God to use the gifts that he has given you to challenge both unbelievers and believers in different ways. And thanks for being available for his leading. (It’s very Hebrew, you know). I have three unrelated questions Skip… 1) Do you have anyone that provides oversight to yourself and your ministry, i.e,, do you hold yourself and your ministry accountable to anyone (other than God, of course)? 2) Do you have specific information about the Greek cruise next year? It is something we might want to consider going on. 3) Do you ever sleep?
It’s wonderful to hear about how God is using you in very unique ways through a wide spectrum of opportunities. You are an inspiration for me as you lean into the Father.
