Prayer Request
Dear Skip and community:
I would like to request prayer for my only sister, Faye, who has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which has already invaded the portal vein, and is considered inoperable unless they can shrink the tumor with chemo and radiation, and then do a Whipple, one of the most complicated and dangerous surgeries imaginable. A second opinion at Shands recommended a Whipple immediately, without chemo and radiation She needs a miracle.

May G-d give you an extra portion of peace and wisdom as you all make decisions and await the outcome of this very difficult situation, that only He fully understands.
What a comfort to know that He’s walking along side of you the entire journey.
I ask the Lord Almighty to intervene and bring complete wholeness to Faye, that she will live and not die. As we join hearts with you lifting her up to the father of lights I ask Him to fill her and heal her body soul and spirit, bring the rain Lord bring rain. Trust the Lord, ask Him for dreams and visions that open the heavens for her to see.
Please keep us posted so we can rejoice with the miracle report of our mighty King and Healer!

Donna — oh, I’m so sorry for your sister’s diagnosis. I will be praying for you all! May the peace of the Lord guard your hearts and minds as you go through these next few weeks of care.
I also wanted to just recommend a little bit of reading, for you to decide if you want to pursue further. I had suffered from Lupus for many, many years, and only in the past year had discovered the affects of nutrition and my illness. In my discoveries, I had also learned of how nutrition can benefit those struggling with cancer — that increasing certain foods will help build up the body and fight the cancer cells, and, likewise, certain foods we “think” are okay actually feed cancer cells. I wanted to just share this info with you for you to be able to pray and ask the Lord if you should look into it or share any of the information with your sister. Doctors are excellent at what they do, but I also believe and realize how much the Lord’s table set before us also plays significantly in aiding our health. The book I would recommend you read is called, “The China Study”, by Dr. Colin T Campbell. Some of his research has tremendously helped me in getting my health back (even though I have been dealing with autoimmune problems and not cancer.) His book deals specifically with nutrition and cancer. I sincerely pray sharing this information this is not perceived as too forward. All the best to you and your sister — again, you will be in my prayers!

LONDON: The humble karela, it has emerged, is a giant slayer of pancreatic cancer cells. A University of Colorado cancer study published in the journal ‘Carcinogenesis’ shows that bitter gourd juice restricts the ability of pancreatic cancer cells to metabolize glucose, thus cutting the cells’ energy source and eventually killing them.
The reason this works is because cancer cells rely mostly on glucose for energy, having problems producing alternate forms of energy themselves. Researchers saw a 60% reduction in the ability of human pancreatic cancer cells to grow in mice that had been transferred with the cancerous cells.
They also saw the same results on pancreatic cancer cells grown in petri dishes in laboratory conditions.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst types with a high mortality rate — the five-year survival rate is as low as 6% after diagnosis. Apple CEO Steve Jobs died from pancreatic cancer in 2011.
The disease affects one in 100,000 Indians. “Many researchers are engineering new drugs to target cancer cells’ ability to supply themselves with energy, and here we have a naturally-occurring compound that may do just that,” says Rajesh Agarwal from the University of Colorado Cancer Center and professor at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. “Three years ago researchers showed the effect of bitter gourd extract on breast cancer cells only in a petri dish. We used the juice — people especially in Asian countries are already consuming it in quantity. We show that it affects the glucose metabolism pathway to restrict energy and kill pancreatic cancer cells.”
