Here’s the schedule of sites and teaching lessons:

Teaching Tour of Israel

1 night in Tel-Aviv, 2 nights in Galilee, 2 nights in Petra, 1 night at the Dead Sea, 4 nights in Jerusalem

April 27 – May 7, 2014

April 27 (Sun.) – DAY 1:   Flying over the ocean, we reach the shores of God’s land. Upon our arrival to the Ben Gurion airport we will be met by our guide and transferred to our hotel on the coast of the Mediterranean, for a wonderful buffet dinner and an introduction to the teaching tour – and rest!

April 28 (Mon.) – DAY 2:   COASTAL PLAIN

After a rich Israeli breakfast we will begin our tour of Israel at Joppa, where Peter raised Tabitha from the Dead (Acts 9:36).  We will begin our teaching here with a discussion of biblical exegesis within the culture of the author.  We will also view the beautiful ancient port from which Jonah tried to flee (Jonah 1) and talk about the real seat of Roman power in the first century. We will continue with a city tour of Tel-Aviv, the first modern Hebrew city, and the cultural and business center of Israel. Today is the official Holocaust Memorial Day in Israel. At 10:00am we will pay respect to the memory of the Holocaust, as we join the Israelis in a minute of silence. We will then begin making our way up north. Our first stop will be at Beit Shearim, the largest Necropolis in the land, where tombs from the Talmudic period have been found. In the early afternoon we will make a final stop at Mt. Arbel, for a breathtaking view of the entire Sea of Galilee and the region surrounding it, before we continue to our hotel in the beautiful region of Galilee.  At each stop we will have ample time for lessons and discussion.

April 29 (Tue.) – DAY 3:   AREA OF THE TRIBE OF DAN

Today is dedicated to the spectacular northern part of Israel. At Korazim, one of the cities cursed by Yeshua (Mat. 11:20-24), we will visit the beautiful synagogue made of basalt. We will notice a carved seat used by the community’s most respected members, known in the ancient sources as the Moses Seat (Mat. 23: 1-7). We will discuss this important concept in the teaching of Yeshua.  We will also see the ancient ritual bath that has been reconstructed near the synagogue, along with two large dwellings. From here we will continue to Gamla a city conquered by the Romans and known as “Masada of the Galilee”. After a breathtaking view of the area, we will walk through the city’s synagogue, Mikveh and Oil press and hear the story of this unique town. Finally, we will visit Katzrin, an ancient village from Yeshua’s days, where we will get a chance to learn about daily life in Biblical times.

April 30 (Wed.) – DAY 4:   JORDAN VALLEY – PETRA

Today we will leave the beautiful Galilee area and drive down the Jordan Valley. After the formalities at the border, we will cross the Jordan River into Jordan, and drive through the land of Perea, where Yeshua traveled coming to Jerusalem. This will also give us the opportunity to learn about the rabbinic use of parables.  We will begin to travel down south to the breathtaking ancient city of Petra. Once the capital of the Nabatean people, this red city is considered one of the wonders of the ancient world.

May 1 (Thur.) – DAY 5:   PETRA

We will spend the entire day exploring Petra in detail. Walking or riding an Arabian horse, we will go through the “Siq”, a magnificent canyon that will take us to the Treasury Monument, carved out of the red rock. Other impressive remains are the ancient tombs, the Cardo Street, the Triumphal Arch of Adrian and the Court building. Those who wish will be able to climb to the High Place, where the city’s alter is found and from which an amazing overview of the entire area can be seen.  We will discuss the concepts of worship, the place of ritual and the identification markers of ancient society.

May 2 (Fri.) – DAY 6:   THE PROMISED LAND

Leaving beautiful Petra behind us, we will start making our way up north along the east side of the Jordan River, much like the Children of Israel did in their journey to the Promised Land. Our first stop will be at the city of Madaba, with its mosaic floor depicting the Holy Land in the 6th century.  Here we will discuss the influences of Islam on Judaism after the Temple.  Then, we will continue to Mt. Nebo. It was from here that Moses looked on to the Promised Land before dying (Deuteronomy 34). After seeing this beautiful view ourselves and discussing the related biblical material, we will drive back to the Jordan River and cross it, at the same place where Joshua and the Children of Israel crossed the river into Israel (Joshua 2). Back in Israel, we will make a stop at the recently opened Baptismal Site on the Jordan River.  We will learn about Jewish baptism and the Christian modification of this important ritual.  Located across from Jericho, the oldest city in the world and a beautiful oasis, (Joshua 3), it is believed to be the traditional site where Yeshua was baptized by John (Mathew 3:13). A nice ride along the Dead Sea will bring us to our hotel located in the lowest place in the world, 1300 ft. below sea level!  We will spend the night at the Dead Sea and enjoy its healing waters.

May 3 (Sat.) – DAY 7:   THE WILDERNESS

We will begin the day at the Masada Museum. Located at the foothill of Masada the museum houses 400 fascinating archeological findings found during the dig at Masada.  Here we will discuss the enormous role that Herod the Great played in the life of Israel.  Our next stop will be at Ein Gedi, where David wrote some of his beautiful psalms. We will learn about David and his place in the Kingdom.  After a short hike we will reach the waterfall where David cut off Saul’s skirt (I Samuel 24). We will then ride a portion of the Old Jericho Road used by pilgrims to ascend to Jerusalem in Yeshua’s days. We will speak about Rahab and the necessity of understanding her actions as symbolic of God’s grace.  As we make a stop along the desolated road we will learn the meaning of Psalm 121 and better understand the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25). We will also view one of the amazing isolated monasteries of the area, where the monks still try to follow the example of Yeshua on the Mt. of Temptation. We will end the day crossing part of the Wilderness of Judea, where we will become acquainted with the Bedouin life and start ascending to the Golden City of the Mighty King: JERUSALEM.

May 4 (Sun.) – DAY 8:   JERUSALEM OF YESHUA’S DAYS

We will walk through the Kidron Valley to the Pool of Siloam, where Yeshua healed the blind man (John 9). On the way we will stop at the Absalom Memorial, erected by King David’s son, Absalom before his death (II Samuel 18). Following the footsteps of pilgrims since the first century we will climb to the Ophel, using an old pipeline that was only recently opened to the public which follows the First Century Street that led from the City of David to the Temple Mount. We will view the remains of the Temple and the steps used by Yeshua when entering the Temple Mount (Luke 19, Matthew 21). At the end of the day we will visit the impressive Western Wall Tunnel, running along the continuation of the Western Wall, to get a better understanding of how the impressive complex of the Temple Mount was constructed.  We will have several lessons concerning these important sites.

May 5 (Mon.) – DAY 9:   THE ELLAH VALLEY – FREE AFTERNOON

We will leave Jerusalem and drive to the Ellah Valley, where you will be able to pick up your own stone from the brook where David slew Goliath (I Samuel 17). Using the Old Gaza Road, which Philip rode with the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8) we will reach Tel Maresha, holding outstanding remains from the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine days. Today is the official Memorial Day in Israel. At 11:00am we will pay respect to the memory of the Israeli soldiers and civilian killed in acts of war and terror, as we join the Israelis in a minute of silence. The afternoon will be free. This will allow us to rest and absorb in much of the information we have come to obtain. You may want to use this day to re-visit a certain site, to stroll on your own or to do some shopping. Our tour bus will function as a shuttle bus and different activities will be suggested. After dinner we will join the Israelis as they begin the celebration of Independence in the streets of Jerusalem.

May 6 (Tue.) – DAY 10:   TEMPLE MOUNT – THE ISRAEL MUSEUM

We will begin our last tour day in the city with a visit to the Temple Mount and the impressive Dome of the Rock. At the Salomon Quarries we will see the place where stones were cut for the construction of the Temple in Yeshua days, and learn how the work was done. This cave goes for more than 800 feet under the surface of the city. Then we will get a chance to see what a wealthy family’s tomb looked like, as we visit the so called Kings Tomb, the royal family tomb of Queen Helen built during the days of Paul the apostle. We will spend the afternoon at the renovated, world famous Israel Museum. Among the many discoveries housed in the museum are the Ossuary of Caiphas the High Priest, the Pontius Pilatus Stone, the stele bearing the House of David inscription, the Bulai of Gemariah the son of Shaphan, the bone with a nail of a crucified person, glass like crystal and many other remains from Yeshua days.  There will be much to learn and discuss at these locations.

May 7 (Wed.) – DAY 11:   Following a wrap-up teaching in the morning, we depart for home, after fulfilling a lifetime dream of seeing, touching and breathing the very places we have only read about until now. Arriving home our Bible will never be the same, for it will be alive in front of our eyes and in our hearts forever.

Every evening during the tour we will have a time of open questions and discussion on a broad range of topics.
