Thank you for sharing all of the pictures as well as the Word. They are amazing !! What kindness to take the time, esp. for me who will probably never be out of my home state. 🙂
I, too, thank your for the beautiful pictures you share with this community, Skip. It is amazing the gifts God has given to the artists who have created the structures and paints you allow us to see. God has given you a gift in your ability to take such amazings photographs! Thanks be to God and thanks to you, Skip.
The pictures you post of these beautiful structures make me consider the huge differences in the ways we have come to honor God in our world over the centuries.
Thank you, Gayle, for the link on the history of the cathedral. Very interesting. Thank you for taking the time to do that!

No offense meant, but I do view such pictures differently.
I see huge expenses, time involved, wonder who paid? Is that real gold?!
I see a pure waste of finances , but perhaps there were no poverty then??
But, I hear protests- this is to ‘glorify’ God.
Is God glorified in such buildings? Does the God of this building require such a building?
Rather, YHWH our Elohim is lifted up in our praises and blessing Him, and is not confined to a building.
Years ago, I was in Europe, Italy, France and other places, and there are many such buildings to visit
but I truly find no interest in them. They are full of idolatry.
Much talent and artistry is seen. Such splendour. I wonder if YHWH is pleased with it?
Thank you Skip for the effort of showing us what going down the wrong path leads to is about, if
that is your focus, it probably is not. We know you enjoy taking pictures of “wonders” such as this. 🙂
Yes, it is a mixture, isn’t it. Men devoted their lives and fortunes to honor God in ways they understood, and now we see the waste of it and the idolatry all mixed in. Makes you wonder how much of what we do will be viewed the same way in 1000 years.

Quite a breathtaking sight. And what a surprise it must be for anyone who has only seen the outside of this structure. More details on its history here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._John's_Co-Cathedral
