Haha! Good humour! Sends shivers though. How horrible looking, like a misfit. perhaps that’s YHWH’s way of making sure it is noticed, to make it stand out, and not hidden, as a warning that it is poisonous.

Just can’t help but marvel at God’s creation, artistry and diversity – WOW! Those beautiful bright colored frogs in Brazil are very poisonous.
Some tropical frogs, especially brightly colored ones, carry a hemotoxin that attacks red blood cells causing paralysis and almost instant death to the victim. This is why the Indians of the jungle used the secretions from frogs to coat the tips of their arrows. If you handle one of these guys, you better wear gloves.
Are you actually trekking thru the rainforest and seeing these little fellows or are they more common close to habitations? I don’t believe we have anything so colorful (not to mention poisonous) in N America.
I appreciate the beauty of these creatures and love your pictures!
You’re right about North America. You need hot and humid for these guys. The pictures were shot in the La Paz waterfall outside of San Jose, but these are not common. You won’t find them anywhere near civilization.

What a beautiful cacophony of color wrapped up in a bizarre little dangerous creature!
No frog licking for me!

Compendium is probably a more appropriate word than cacophony, although, you can almost hear the colors in this picture they are so bold and evident!

“His” side yellow and blue markings almost make it look like he is a Venus Fly Trap!

And those saturated red bulby eyes just make me want to press them like buttons!

Why “don’t touch”?
