In South Africa I spoke about the Roman Empire in the first century, the Formation of the Christian Church, and Upside-Down Leadership.  Now these lectures are available on my website.

Just go HERE

where you will find the links.

As a teaser, I have provided this brief 9-minute discussion for free about the meanings of words as a function of culture.

Great teaser, Skip. Excellent illustration of the meaning of the Elder Son’s SILENCE. Why do we always get back to that? 🙂

It brings me to the way in which Yeshua ‘filled full’ the law, by teaching the necessity of acting in ways that go beyond the mere obedience of statutes, to the matters of the heart. Hidden and unspoken, like a seed covered with soil, waiting to see what fruit is produced.

How do these differ from you Living the Biblical Worldview, please? I have LBW and if it is duplicate, i’m currently drooling over a couple of other teachings you have posted. tnx

Nice! Thanks for the breakdown.

Michael

Hi Skip,

Your point is well taken and I hope you are feeling better now

At the same time, the passage from Jude below seems to imply the concept of Christian salvation

That I learned in my neighborhood as a child

“Our common salvation” is threatened predominately by “godly men”

Who are “turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness”

But managing my desires is not like being alone with a lion in the jungle IMO

Jude 1:1-8 caught my eye because 1118 is my home address 🙂

Jude 1:1-8 (Hebrew Names Version)

1 Yehudah, a servant of Yeshua the Messiah, and brother of Ya`akov, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and kept for Yeshua the Messiah:

2 Mercy to you and shalom and love be multiplied.

3 Beloved, while I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I was constrained to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the holy ones.

4 For there are certain men who crept in secretly, even they who were of old written of beforehand to this condemnation: ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master, God, and Lord, Yeshua the Messiah.

5 Now I desire to remind you, though you already know this, that the Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Mitzrayim, afterward destroyed those who didn’t believe.

6 Messengers who didn’t keep their first domain, but deserted their own dwelling place, he has kept in everlasting bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

7 Even as Sedom and `Amorah, and the cities around them, having, in the same way as these, given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.

8 Yet in like manner these also in their dreaming defile the flesh, despise authority, and slander celestial beings.

Jude 1:1-8

ooops

threatened predominately by “godly men”

should be threatened predominately by “ungodly men”

I just listened to “Meaning in Culture” about the Roman influence on most everything in history since it’s entrance on the world stage.

Amazing! And watching the Keynote while listening to the lecture was great as well. Good visuals and videos.

Getting ready to start the “Formation of the Christian Church” but I kinda want to listen to “Meaning in Culture” again! A LOT of great stuff in there.

More, more, more please!

🙂

Your teachings are like ice water during a long desert trek.

More, more, more please!

Skip, have you ever given a class, instructions, or helpful tidbits on learning methods of study as that utilized in your TW daily research? I understand some basic tools and formats, but have difficulty many times in formulating the depth and richness you come up with daily. So many times, after reading and analyzing your TW’s, I lean back and wonder in amazement, “How did he come up with that?” It’s like Santa Claus reaching in to his bag and pulling out a never ending source of the good stuff.

You are addictive. I always seem to want more.

Ester

Hi Michael,
Agree with what you’ve expressed above re Skip’s TW, they are amazing and rich;
but, poor comparison to St Claus 🙂 That surprised me! Having lack of sleep? LOL!
Slicha! Shalom to you.

Michael C

Yeah, bad comparison, but you probably got my meaning. I think I was kind of rushing when I typed that. I was doing a lot of stuff today. It was my wife’s birthday and I had several things to do.

Sorry, I’ll try to do better next time.
🙂

Ester

Michael, you have always been good, I knew it was a slip up!
Apologies accepted, and on behalf of Skip as well 🙂 🙂
Take it easy! Shalom!

Many blessings and love to your wife on her birthday!
ABBA bless her abundantly!
