Torah at 50 below zero
Well, I went to Altona, Manitoba to teach this last weekend. Wind chill 50 below zero!! These are brave souls who spent the weekend with me, some driving 3.5 hours to get there.
Thank you all for a wonderful time, although I must admit I don’t know why anyone lives in that kind of climate.
Off to Mexico tomorrow. Guaranteed to be at least 100 degrees warmer.
BURRRRRRRR! I agree CO and even N. Nevada is no place to be right now. We decided to spend the winter in N. Cal this winter. Are you inclined to be anywhere in the neighborhood of Sacramento in the near future?
Let us know if you are! That’s only a 3.5 hour drive for us and we’d make it — so much easier than cross country. 🙂
Sorry, the near future is London, Genoa, Philadelphia, Delaware, Virginia Beach and Israel. Then Missouri, Idaho, Rome, Istanbul, and other parts.
Hey,
Thank you for coming, remember that there are no mosquitos in Altona in the winter-time. I asked you about material for Purim, you suggested a book-I cannot remember which book that was, could you please get the Author and the name of the book to me?
Thanks again, it was a pleasure meeting you. Hope you come back next year
Hi Brian — I just finished one that I suspect is the same. It is Rabbi David Fohrman “The Queen You Thought You Knew”. What a great read — totally turned my head upright in thinking about Purim. I passed it on to our congregational leaders.
Yes, and I had a great conversation with David about this. It is only the first of two volumes. Can’t wait for the second.
It was an enormous pleasure to be with you all. I look forward to the return.
Hi Brian, I just found http://www.alephbeta.org where Rabbi David Fohrman has a few lessons on Esther and Purim. They’re a bit a teaser for his book, but wow I’d love to hear more.
Awesome! I grew up relatively close to there and still have family nearby. Great to see the crowd that came out. Blessings to everyone.
I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else – winter, spring, summer, fall – love ’em all.
