We’ve Got Wheels

Most of you know about Children Under the Bridge, our program to help the children of prostitutes in Jakarta.  We have accomplished a lot over the last two years.  Some young women are no longer sex workers.  Many of the children are being educated and receive skills training.  We are supply medicine, clean water and other necessary life-saving products.  But TODAY is a great day, because today the wonderful woman who has dedicated her life to these children got a new motorbike (her FIRST one).  Now she doesn’t have to walk to each of the locations where the work occurs.  She is thrilled, and so are we.  This is a very good day.

Thank you each one who made this possible.  If you want to know more about what we are doing, just ask.

How I can help?

Laurita Hayes

Jakarta is definitely not just a place on the map for me, any more. A piece of my heart is there, and now I get to praise God for the bike! Thank you for the update, Skip, and thank you to everybody who helps, too.

My brother goes to Thailand most winters and he has seen some crazy bike antics. These folks cruise along beside each other with only one bike running and a foot on the running board of the non-running one to push it along. Saves gas. He has seen bikes that are carrying people carrying full size tv’s, large pieces of glass or the entire family. I saw a crazy picture of one man who had his other 8 people, from grandma to the baby – with their bags of groceries, too – perched on two poles extended on either side of his bike. They looked like roosting chickens! A bike is a big deal. Halleluah!

This brings a big smile to my face…and I suspect God is smiling as well.

It’s so worth the extra few hours I work over my schedule for her to have a bike, and not just any bike one of good quality. Thanks for the update
