The Solution
This will probably get me banned, but it needs to be said.
The Solution
There is a biblical solution to the inhumanity of Hamas—although no one will talk about it and no politician has the fortitude to enact it. But before we actually voice the biblical solution, we must acknowledge some facts that are also extremely uncomfortable for Westerners to contemplate and consequently almost never acknowledged in public.
First, evil exists. That should be obvious, and in fact, it is, but nevertheless, few Western-minded people will acknowledge this truth. In the West we have been indoctrinated by the failure of the Church to maintain a doctrine of the reality of evil and we have been lulled to sleep by the Enlightenment’s view of humanity. Not all men have good in their hearts. Not all men embrace civilized ethics. Not all men think like we do.
And that is the second hard reality. Not everyone believes in the sanctity of life. Some paradigms treat others as a means to an end, and for Hamas that end is the extermination of all Jews no matter what the cost. This means that the true reality of Hamas is found in the completion of the mission, period. The hero in this paradigm is the one who deliberately sacrifices himself and others in the cause of Jewish genocide. That paradigm governs his behavior. The “war” is ideological, religious, and unyielding. There is no possibility of “negotiation” for the objective allows no alternative other than the death of every Jew on earth. The second hard reality is that for some people “evil” as the West defines it does not exist. What matters is only the goal—nothing else. Not everyone believes in Western ideals. Not everyone thinks like we do.
Third, the outcry of the left, the media, and the “humanitarians” concerning the hardship and destruction that this war brings upon the Palestinian people in Gaza is not the result of some colonial “deep injustice” denying Palestinians basic human rights. Clearly, death and destruction have come to Gaza, but this was true from the beginning when the Arab nations essentially allowed Gaza to be birthed, and it continues to be true because the people of Gaza have not revolted against the leadership of evil men who use them as pawns and shields in the pursuit of their one objective. The humanitarian outcry is real, but it is pointless as long as Hamas exists for Hamas cares nothing about the ordinary Palestinian. We may empathize with the suffering of the innocent, but the reality is that there are far fewer innocents than we imagine—and Hamas doesn’t care! Evil men will do whatever they wish until someone stops them. Evil is real and given license, it knows no restraints.
And now the solution—that unspeakable biblical verdict with historical precedent that no one wants to admit, let alone embrace. Evil must be exterminated. Amalek must be put to death. The pre-deluge world must die. Jericho’s population must be destroyed. Why? Because if any of it is left untouched, the entire scenario begins again, as Joshua’s fateful treaty demonstrates. There is only one answer, biblically, to evil men. Kill them all! But, of course, the insipid ethics of the West will attempt some other “reasonable” solution because we just can’t think like this anymore. We don’t serve a God of righteousness. We serve the God of tolerance. So evil continues. Israel prides itself on not legally executing a single human being in the last seventy years. This is a huge mistake. Hamas would not be so emboldened if Israel had executed every terrorist. Instead, it tolerated evil by allowing these men to lounge in prison until they were traded for some captive Israeli. The result is obvious. If you don’t exterminate evil as you confront it, it will fester and grow.
Does this solution seem “cruel and unusual” to you? Probably, but that’s because you haven’t embraced the biblical God of Israel whose objective is to establish a holy nation free of the corruption of evil. It takes zealous fervor to bring righteousness into the world. It doesn’t happen by tolerating evil, by pacifying evil, or by ignoring evil. It happens because good men confront evil and eliminate it, exterminate it, destroy it, without compunction, without remorse, without regret. Righteousness requires ruthlessness for good. But I’m guessing that your Western education makes the very idea of ruthlessness immoral, and as a result, those who perpetrate evil will take advantage of your ethical hesitancy and continue their campaign of inhumanity. And you will let them because you’ve been taught that everyone needs to be loved.
We also seem to forget that Israel as a nation/collective have disappeared and reappeared several times. God has allowed (withdrawn his hand) or caused (inserted his hand) into this process based on disobedience to His instructions. Obviously, today, Israel is not in a state of obedience to Gods Instructions and today, seemingly mirrors the pre-state (which you Skip point out one – instruction on dealing with evil/Hamas) of each experience of God’s judgment . Can we deny what is written?
Yes, Israel today is a modern nation-state. It is not the biblical Israel. It functions as a nation-state, not as a holy nation called by God as a witness to the world. Nevertheless, there is a biblical solution to evil regardless of Israel’s current spiritual condition, as we see in the days of Noah. I would refer you to Lee Harris’ Civilization and Its Enemies, a book written a decade ago that foresees the current ideological conflict.

Your analysis of the situation is spot on in my opinion. It is sort of reminiscent of Chamberlain and Hitler and you see how that worked out. Evil cannot be reasoned with. It must be destroyed. If we are not up to that task, If we cannot bring ourselves to do what is necessary to obliterate it, then we are already finished, and evil has already prevailed.
Evil will indeed be cleansed from from the earth… but are we in fact prepared for that event? Do we have the “stomach”… or in the Biblical Hebrew vernacular… the “kidneys” for it?
“And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
I don’t know what to say. Those of us who remember who actually created Hamas (Israel + the US) are totally befuddled as to how to pray for this situation. What do you do when evil is fighting the evil that they created to combat the evil of the past? How do I stand with the Israel of God? This has been my dilemma.
Therefore my response is to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, Thy Kingdom come and thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This is a scary prayer because, as you say, peace springs out of destruction. Maranatha!!!
