Amazing craftsmanship and artistry!… yet, “ichabod”… יוֹכֶ֫בֶד / ʾîkābôd : the Glory has departed, and it has left behind only the building!

The Glory has departed”,… because the mind and heart of man was captured. (Cf. 1 Samuel 4:21-22)… and it is only by an event that is the very act of God himself that man can be freed.

The resurrection of Jesus was such an event. Yet the resurrection of Jesus is not to be analyzed and understood by data other than this event itself. While a real event happening within the sphere/nexus of time and space, the resurrection is also the event of the creation of new time and space. Such an event— that is otherwise an impossible event— can only be described as an act of God. The event of the resurrection of Jesus is that of the creation of the conditions of the possibility for all other events, and as such it cannot be accounted for in terms considered appropriate for all other events. This “wisdom of the cross” is where God meets us… and it’s where he knows we must be met— if we are going to meet him.
