What hits me is the overwhelming sense of the force of idolatry by which I am confronted… and I find that same sense is present when I venture past the threshold of my home.
“Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the gates of deep shadow?” (Job 38:17) “…because of the merciful compassion of our God by which the dawn will visit to help us from on high, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79)
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)
