These pictures you have been sharing are amazing – the clarity and identity of these beautiful animal’s awakens the beholders sense of just how incredible and powerful HIS creation is. Where were you when you took this – I mean geographical and physical location? How they make me long for Africa!
Geographically, several locations in South Africa arranged by Luzette who coordinated all my lectures and travels in a most excellent way. She was God’s gift during the trip and I am in her debt.
Physically, I was perhaps 5 or 6 feet away, as was the case with most of the close shots. Protected, sort of, but certainly with some risk. Exciting and wonderful.
Nikon D300 with 80-200 zoom.

Did you reach out and pet him a little? Do you still have hands?
Nikon D300, usual lenses are 80-200 zoom, 24-70 zoom and sometimes the 105 Micro. I have some older stuff too. Had Nikons for 40 years now. They last a long time.

Thanks for sharing them.

I did pet a lion, not this one. It was a bit unnerving but I had to do it. They were definitely NOT tame.
They are NEVER tame. Their instinct are to strong.
What camera are you using? It gets fabulous shots (of course, much of that is attributed to the one using the camera, but still, I’m curious). 🙂
