Nicaragua
In a land where the harsh reality is extreme poverty, the innocence of children is especially tragic. Most of these little people will grow up uneducated, without dreams, sometimes without food. Some will die. Most will succumb to hopelessness.

“Heavenly Father we come to You and humbly remind You of Jer 29:11 where You tell us that You have a beautiful future for us. We speak this into existance for these children that Skip have brought to our and Your attention today – 21 Sept 2011 here in Cape Town SA. We trust in You to protect, provide for their human needs and help them become all that You have planned for them. Thank You that we know that You are only good and You are their Father too. We pray for their parents and their goverment to take up the chozen responsiblity to be Your arms and legs to these children. Thank You that You have put a smile on their faces regardless of what humans have done or have not done that was suppose to have been done. Help us to not forget them but to watch over them just like You do. We pray this is the wonderful Name of Y’shua Your beloved Son. Amen and Amen.”

Skip and all, I went to central America three times on mission trips in the 90s.
To El Salvador twice and to Guatemala once. The average yearly wage at that time, was $648.00 USD.
We built churches and gave out food and clothing and the medical team treated a variety of illnesses. It is heartbreaking. God’s people are REQUIRED to meet the needs that He has set before us, especially since He has given to us in abundance, so that we have the means to meet those needs. May we love as HE loves, and give as HE gives and so we bring Glory and Honor to our Father in Heaven.

What an absolute tragedy that these are but a tiny “drop in the bucket” when it comes to the millions of beautiful young children growing up without a knowledge of CHRIST, without hope in a world that seems to care so little for these precious ones. It truly must grieve our Father’s heart…not only for them, but for a ‘Christian’ world that seems to care less. Thanks for reminding us, Skip.
It is possible, even plausible for our prosperity to be even a worse enemy than our poverty.
“When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land He has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe His commands, His laws and His decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your G-d, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” (Deuteronomy 8:10-14)
“‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.” (Ezekiel 16.49)
Did not our Master say?- “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” (Matthew 5.7)
What breaks the heart of our compassionate Christ should also break ours and our prayer should ever be- “LORD, what would you have me to do?” (Acts 9.6)
What about me? what may I do? I may pray. I have His permission and He has given unto me (and all those who belong to Him) the privilege of prayer. We have His instructions- “pray for the LORD of the harvest to send forth laborers into the fields..” (Matthew 9.38). Then -why don’t we pray?

I’m reminded of David Wilkerson’s sermon on Anguish.
“All true passion is born out of anguish. Nehemiah… God found a man who would not just have a flash of emotion. Not just some great sudden burst of concern and then let it die…. There’s a great difference between anguish and concern. Concern is something that begins to interest you… Please don’t tell me your concerned when you’re spending hours in front of internet or television.”
Neh 1:5-7 And I said, “O LORD God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel your servants, confessing the sins of the people of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Even I and my father’s house have sinned. We have acted very corruptly against you and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, and the rules that you commanded your servant Moses.
