Something’s Happening At Central Washington State University
My name is Michael Moen. My father is Skip Moen. I am a senior at Central Washington State University in Ellensburg, Washington. I will graduate with a degree in psychology, but my real objective this year, and for years to come, is to help people my age understand how important it is to have a biblically-based view of life.
Starting in the fall of 2011 many followers of Christ will be making attempts on Central Washington University campus to expand the opportunities for Christians to unite in fellowship. I want to provide opportunities for other college students to receive the answers they wish to know about faith, and to see the work of God in their lives. Of course, that’s what all campus ministries want to do, but most ministries are run by people who aren’t actually students living with all the pressures of campus life. I want to provide a safe place for people just like me to learn about God. Pastor Brian Sorenson of Four Square Church in Ellensburg has agreed to help me begin a new branch of campus ministry by starting a club on campus that will be run by students. It will be called “The Corner.” My hope is to provide a place where college students can openly talk about biblical ideas and the Scriptures, where they can discuss things that they are struggling with and be free to say what they really feel. Each quarter we will also include a book discussion so they have a tool that will help them build strength and confidence in God. “Experiencing God” by Henry Blackaby is our starting material. Reading this book has influenced my life and it is my hope that it will do the same for many other students on campus. With conversation and teaching of the actual Scripture, books that help provide tools to strengthen one’s faith, and opportunities to hash out conversation with peers, we want to transform the Central Washington University campus with God’s blessing. There are many my own age who look for acceptance and renewed vigor to follow the calling of Christ. I hope to only be a part of what I believe God is doing in my school and I look forward to being a part of whatever it is He wishes this effort to become.
If reaching kids in college is a part of your hope for my generation, then I would like to hear from you. I need your prayers and, frankly, some support to do this since I will have to work less off campus in order to have the hours needed to make this really successful. It won’t take much. If you want to give, maybe it could be a part of what my Dad is doing with the community around the world.
I would really like to hear from anyone who wants to be a silent partner in trying to change the direction of some of these students. I know. If you met me a few years ago, you would think I was going off on my own path, but God really shook me and now I want the same thing for so many of the people I know here.
Thanks for taking time to listen to me.

ah Michael..- as a father of a (freshman) college student- my thoughts this morning I share with your father are this, and this also is my prayer for your (future) children..- “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” (3 John 1.4)
This would define (in all fulness) for me, the word “success.” -I would die a happy man. He who has begun a good work in you- will complete it. Be strong in the LORD and in the power of His might. Always remember- “He must increase- but I must decrease, for by humility and fear of the LORD are riches, (durable riches and righteousness), honor (he that honors Me- him will I honor) and life.
“Blessed is the man..”- lol!- already, I envy you!
Wow! Great news Michael. This makes me so excited! May His love and goodness and guidance be with you each step of the journey. It is worth the effort! I pray that each and everyone that connects with you will grow and come to understand the mysteries of the Word. Do this prayerfully and with humility and you will succeed. Guard your heart for from it life flows. Know the Teacher and let Him know you. LISTEN THEN DO THEN LISTEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. Never assume anything. Stay close to the Comforter.
Shalom Shalom!
Christina
Thank you all for your prayers and support, I hope that you continue to pray for the students attending Central Washington University, there are so many that are crying out to have a relationship with God and it is my hope that through the many services that are now starting, that they may finally let go and leave the hearts in God’s hands. Pray that they know the love God shares with those that call him father, this age is not an easy one but no age is. I know that having God in my life has made me so much more fulfilled in the little things, I hope God uses me for his purposes to reach the students here, your prayers and support are unbelievably appreciated. Hope you all are blessed, and you all will be in my prayers! God is good!
What an amazing young man. We will pray for him and may our Father bless his efforts. Keep us updated.
