Irene’s Birthday Cards
65 birthday cards (inside the box) were hand delivered to Irene at the homeless camp. According to all reports, she was ecstatic! THANK YOU ALL.
- My video interview with Irene can be seen on YouTube by clicking here. It will warm your heart.
This is wonderful, Skip! What a beautiful spirit Irene has! I will show this to my class as we continue to pray for her and her family each day. It is such a blessing to hear the little children pray for her and others. One day, I pray, we may all get to meet her. Thank you for bringing her into our hearts.
We are exremely glad she was thrilled with the cards! She is very beautiful inside and out. Thank you Skip for the video presentation.
So amazing. So inspiring!! Thanks so much.
I wonder what the potential is of one special life within the village Irene is from? I just don’t understand how a whole group of healthy people could be so deprived of basic things such as running water and electricity. Are they to pay some huge price for a sin committed long ago? Will the soil produce? Is there a curse over the land? Or am I looking at this all wrong and are they happy as they are? What is the hope for them? I am attached to this girl and feel like she is really going to be known and loved around the world. Our hearts are bound to hers and as we desire for her destiny and purpose to be fulfilled we are carrying the victory and the breakthrough for a whole nation of dreams that will find courage in Irene’s life and become their inspiration for a generation that will carry the torch she is so bravely lifting high. If she comes to America I will certainly be cheering for her!! You are welcome Irene, come to America and Win! Love is the secret of the golden fire.
Irene is the only girl of a family of 6 boys, only 1 younger than she. All the older brothers are either gone from the camp or live in the camp. There is no electricity or water or etc. because the camp is not officially recognized by the local government. It is on the property of a municipal park because there is no other place for these people to live. The city is making an effort to remove these people from the park. The government’s official position is that these people need to move to an “informal settlement” where the government does provide electricity and water. However, the informal settlements are virtually 100% black and some are so dangerous that even the police will not go there. So this is essentially a death sentence, or worse, especially for a blond, 15 year old girl.
Are these people “happy”? Hardly! They are surviving in a world that doesn’t want to admit they even exist. This has nothing to do with generational curses or sins from long ago. This is pure and simple racism. It is revenge perpetrated on Whites for what Blacks perceive as injustice under apartheid. There are between 600,000 and 1 million Whites living like this – and worse. Irene is only one of these 1,000,000 stories, but she is an important one because she has shown great courage at such a young age. We are going to do all we can to help her – and YOU matter.
The documentary I am trying to do will show you the extent of the problem – and the coverup that the government is perpetrating. Why does the government pretend these people are not there? Because in South Africa the current Black government gets elected over and over on the slogan that the Whites are rich and the Blacks are poor and the poor deserve to have what the rich took. That doesn’t play very well if you have 1/3 of the White population living in poverty. So they are hidden from view.
How does Irene run with her feet so badly burned? Does she have good shoes for runing? Does she have a Mother and father, brothers, sisters? She has such an air of innocence and a trusting spirit. Does she have any one who can teach her about the Bible? How can we best pray for her? She is a lovely your lady.
These days Irene runs in ordinary tennis shoes. Regular running shoes cause blisters because she has no toes to speak of. We hope to help her get a custom made pair of shoes. She wins not without the usual equipment. Imagine what she can do with shoes that do not hurt!
Our contact with Irene and her family is through a man who was rescued out of the camps himself. He is a true believer in the Messiah and he takes that message back to the people of the camps. But he is only one man. Many are needed – few are willing.
Thank you for your reply. Last week I was thinking about Irene and the thought kept coming to me to pray for Yehovah to bless her feet. In the card I sent to her I told her I would add her to my list of grandchildren and would be praying for her. I do and will continue to do so. Updates from time to time will be appreciated. Thank you for your ministry to these people.
