So what have you done lately?
I thought I would catch you up on where I have been and what I have been doing. Actually, this is a preface to why Today’s Word might miss a day or two. About one month ago, I left for Israel. Bob Gorelik and I hosted a wonderful group of people for two weeks in Israel. We traveled, taught, conversed, discussed, debated and fellowshipped together from morning to night (and sometimes way into the night). It was a wonderful trip but exhausting. The fact that I had my daughter with me made it all the more special, and trying to keep up with her and all the others her age made it all the more tiring. But it was well worth it.
We (Rachel and I) flew to England after the Israel tour. For two more weeks I taught in multiple locations. We spent three days at Oxford, celebrating Rachel’s birthday. Unfortunately, my immune system, already down from Israel, left me fighting a sore throat for nearly the entire time. But the teaching was good. I spoke to a few new groups. We covered Guardian Angel, the foundation of cultural shifts due to religious beliefs, more about paradigms and lots of conversational topics. I attempted to write a few things along the way, but the days were long and what I mostly needed was sleep.
We got home three days ago. Now the real impact of all that travel and all that teaching is hitting me. Still waking up at 3 AM (jet lag will take awhile) but too tired to do much serious thinking. At least I could cut the grass. But don’t feel sorry for me. This month was a real treat. Lots of new faces, great experiences in both countries, and a renewed sense of how much people want to learn. It was fun.
The final thought is how much I appreciate all of you. Without this worldwide community and your continued support none of what I do would be possible. You have given me the opportunity to do what I was born to do and I am so grateful. Your monthly contributions made it possible for me to teach in England, to reach into the lives of people who came to Israel (and those who already lived there). I am amazed how YHVH uses all this. Thank you. There is a lot more to do in a lot of other places and you are making it possible every day.
Now maybe I can sleep another hour.
Skip
Sleep well — I don’t know how you keep the pace that you do. Our time in Israel was life-changing and we cherish the friendships that were made. But please take time to rest! We are only just beginning to recover and we’ve been home for 2 weeks!
” I am amazed how YHVH uses all this.” I’m also amazed! and thank him and you!
Besides the great time we had with the group I also had a wonderful afternoon with Bob and Dolores.
I’m already looking forward to October, but make sure you rest a bit before that 🙂
Like 🙂
Sleep sweet. Rest is important, too. Even YHVH rested.
I went to Holy land with my husband and daughter 2 years ago. Everyone should go, it brings the Bible to life. Any sore throat, start drinks vinegar in water right away.
” And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.” Mark 6:31
Skip, It sounds like it’s time to “come apart” before you fall apart. Your health and well being are more important to us than a few more Daily Words. It will give us time review the recent 30 day series or our choice of any of the thousands of teachings you have faithfully provided over the past years. Shalom.
the biggest smile I had was when you said you were with your daughter………..a blessing that can’t be matched 😉 ….
We pray for uninterrupted, healing sleep for your weary body and sweet communion with YudHeyVahHey for your spirit.
I’m so glad you got to have your daughter with you Skip. There’s nothing better than Epsom salt baking soda baths to recover from exhaustion. A cup to a cup in full tub of hot water revives the dead!
“The sleep of the laborer is sweet…” Ecc. 5:11
Hopefully you have recovered and had a well deserved rest, Skip, great job, especially on sharing Guardian Angel, everyone needs to hear it!
Such updates as this are much appreciated. It is the personal touch that makes TWs enriching and inspiring, that brings us closer, not simply words to show one’s knowledge.
Been busy helping out a family, trying hard to catch up
Toda raba! Shalom!
