Hi Wayne, I read this information from Chabad.org under the title “7 Things You Can Do for Israel Today” At the outbreak of the 1967 war a Rebbe called a “call to arms” to encourage all Jewish males to put the holy and mind connectors known as “tefillin” on. The tefillin, whose spiritual potency is foretold in the Talmud, helps to instill fear and deterrence in the enemy. They are first placed on by reciting prayers and following a certain sequence.
