Florence and Pisa

I am enjoying the experience of God’s grace found among those old architectural monuments erected to honor Him.  The dedication to creating beauty and elegance in places of worship always bring me a sense of reverence.  I am also enjoying the conversations around meals.  Great discussions of serious issues about exegesis, history and culture.  Soon I will be heading for Greece to lecture on the cruise ship.  Thank you all for your prayers.   I thought you might enjoy a few more photos.

First, the synagogue in Florence, one of the most beautiful synagogues in Europe.

Then the ceiling of the cathedral at Pisa.  What can you say?  The craftsmanship, the expense, the time it took to build this ceiling about 80 feet above the floor.  Amazing!

I went to this synagogue last summer. It is very lovely from the outside but I was surprised at how simple and plain it was on the inside. After seeing all the cathedrals it was a stark contrast but I understand their desire for simplicity. The security was incredible. The photo you took at night was awesome. They wouldn’t let us take any cameras inside.
