Trinity Conference Videos

Below you will find the link to the videos shot Saturday at the conference on the doctrine of the Trinity.  Anthony Buzzard was the guest speaker.  I hope you find these insightful.  The two video files, one with me and the other with Anthony, are at the bottom of this page.

Thanks for posting these 3 videos of the conference Skip. I listened to all three, and while the jury is still out in my mind, I do plan to continue my quest/search for clarity. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s a mystery that we humans are not intended to solve this side of eternity.
I’ve heard some powerful arguments from the Trinitarians and now, these videos on the non-Trinitarian position provide additional info to chew on.
My ratings on the videos is mixed. I understand that Sir Anthony can’t help that he speaks with a British accent, but it certainly made him more difficult to understand. And, his condescending, pompous and arrogant tone didn’t help matters, IMO. Perhaps that’s due to differences in communication style between Brits and Americans.
At any rate…I’m glad there was the 3rd video with you speaking, teaching, and warmly relating to the audience. Of the three, yours was the only one that felt respectful and truly informative. Thanks for getting the info out so quickly to your readers.

Dear Judi,
I agree that we love Skip and also want to thank him for the tremendous effort it takes to sew together any version of history outside the PC box!

But I also want to thank Sir Anthony and his wonderful and loving wife, Barbara, for the time and effort it took to travel so far to come to our little group and share from the heart. His love for his Saviour is palpable and infectious and if any of us want to take variance with any of his positions on doctrinal issues I would hope that it could be in a non-personal – and therefore constructive – manner in which we could all benefit.

oops…meant to say, “my ratings ARE mixed…not, IS mixed.

I’m sure your observations are correct Laurita. It’s probably a perceptual thing on my part…nothing personal intended. Again, I suspect it’s more of a difference in styles from across the pond. Often, when I hear Brits speak or perform, it comes across as pompous or condescending. Sometimes it’s effective, sometimes even humorous. I’m glad you mentioned his love for his Savior as it can be difficult to ascertain those emotions in a two hour youtube video. But, I also heard him in a debate sponsored by Jewish Voice where he was debating against Dr. Michael Brown and Dr. James White and I felt the same way about his style. I wonder if it’s because he feels so much opposition from the Trinitarians that he finds it necessary to speak with that condescending authority, calling them “silly,” “absurd,” or even worse…no compassion for others who are still on the journey.
Additionally, I’m sure I’m spoiled from years of Skip’s mentoring. He’s masterful at sharing his understanding of Scripture without insulting his readers.

I thoroughly enjoyed the conference. I can certainly see how Sir Anthony’s tone can be taken that way but I can assure you he is just the opposite when conversing on a personal level. I do understand the frustration, though, Judi!

Thank you, Skip, for putting this together. Besides the great material and the God breathed information, it was also nice to meet and fellowship with family from TW. I now have faces to go with the names and feel a more personal connection to those my wife and I were given the great privilege to meet. It was so nice meeting you all! I would include names but inevitably I would leave someone out!

Lets do this again soon, please!

I enjoyed the videos, and had not seen Sir Anthony before. I wished I had been there. I googled him and he seems to really bring out the ire of those who hold differing views. Nearly all my friends are Trinitarians. I certainly was one, but I have moved more to Skip’s view over the years. The argument that those in the first century, especially Paul, pushed a Trinitarian view is just untenable on the basis of history alone, leaving aside the language and its nuances. Skip does us a great service by publishing these topics for us to study and decide for ourselves. It’s sad and more than a little frightening that we can’t examine our “creeds” without the fangs coming out.
