Rosanne and I recently completed a Mediterranean cruise with Seabourn.  I was the guest lecturer (good thing, as otherwise we could never afford this).  I took a lot of photos, as usual.  Here are some from Elba and Portovenere, places we had never been.  I didn’t expect to see a church like this on Elba….

Beautiful Death

Spring Streets

As I wandered around the streets today, I can across some amazing color designs. The wisteria is on an arbor planted in 1912. The brilliant crimson is on a tree called “the blood of Jesus” here in Italy. The iris is my version of “Purple Rain.”

Tuscania, Italy

For hundreds of years, the Good Friday procession commemorating the death of Jesus has been an important religious ritual in Tuscania, a small medieval city in Italy.  Attended mostly by the local citizens, this Friday I was once again in the crowd.  This time I noticed several important things.  First, at the end of the…
